Smudge Sprays

The Salt Co. Diaries

[britni] Hello and Happy July everyone!

July is my favorite month, and no, not just because I am a July born Leo.. because also, it is just the best month of every year ever, hands down. The salmon are running, the flowers are blooming, the days are long and the air is sweet with bounty. Life is exquisitely brimming in July.

I had to cut my run short the other day to stop and pick a little bouquet of wildies.
There is a fun little project we have been working on over at the ol' salt company that I am so excited to share with you all!

When I was preparing for my birth, one of my favorite things that I made, and used, were smudge sprays.
Now, I know like 96% of you are wondering: "wtf is a smudge spray?"

now, I have no problem lighting up a sage stick in even the weirdest places, but every now and again, for instance, while operating a motor vehicle, it can be slightly inconvenient to whip out a lighter and a candle and whatnot. Or every time I am staying in an AirBnB.

So for times like these, I like to keep my smudge sprays handy. My most frequent use for them is when my two older kids start fighting in the backseat of the car, I just give them each a little "pssht-pssht" and things typically settle right down lol.

and. yes, I realize that this, on the surface, seems like the same trick for teaching house cats to stay off of the kitchen counter.. and maybe it is exactly the same thing, (only it smells better) but who cares because IT WORKS!

Ok but for reals. The sprays are really effective with my kids because we have had a lot of conversations about energy, and how to be aware of the energies we are bringing to the table, or to the car or more importantly, to the people we love. For kids and adults alike, having a physical tool in your practice to bring awareness to your own energy is life changing.

Since ancient times, salt has been coveted as a preserving and purifying tool for cleansing spaces and warding off all things evil. So it only made sense to incorporate purified saltwater into my sprays and THEN it made sense to make them for everyone else and not just myself and sell them with our other sea salty things by the sea shore (and online and so on) (lol).

so. without any further blabbing from me...

The new smudge sprays!!

First up, Positive Energy (a sister product to our most popular bath soak):

Who better to represent our Positive Energy spray than, my man, Yukon? Nobody. Dogs already have this one dialed in - but if you could bottle up waggy tail vibes, I think it would look something like citrus essential oils with a splash of bergamot and vanilla in sea water, plus a few citrine crystals for good measure. :)

I like to use this one for giving the "already good times" a little boost-y-boost!

Friends are coming over for dinner...

On the way to a soccer game...

Dancing in the kitchen...

Packing for a trip...

"Yay! this is going to be so fun." *pssht-pssht*

A little "be here now" tool for engaging all of our senses and embracing a moment of Positive Energy flow. Which, hopefully, helps to create more of those moments. What you think about, you bring about, so why not take a pause, and soak up all the goodness that's goin' around.

It's like a way of saying "I see you, Universe. I see you blessing my lucky ass with all this goodness. and I'm here for it."

Ohmigosh look at his crooked little sniff sniff nose so cute. He ruvs it.

Next up we have Unconditional Love!

This "photoshoot" for these sprays was me walking around my own yard just having the best time looking for pretty things :)

Yes! you remember our Unconditional Love blend from the bath soaks, right?  if you forgot: we have rose, ylang ylang, & geranium in perfect ratios for maximum YUM. The spray also features little rose quartz crystals.

This one is basically my "mama" spray. Anytime I begin to notice that I feel frustrated with my kids (or husband, or parents or any family member for that matter) I try to tap into my higher self. I, personally, don't think Unconditional love just comes to us naturally, not even with our children. I think UL is something that takes a lot of wisdom and awareness to achieve. But for me, it is always a goal to love others this way, and not just my family. When I was 19 I got an unconditional love tattoo on my wrist as a reminder of who I want to be, aaaaand I'm still working on it. always will be.

The spray is simply a tool to reinforce the intent.

I want to love, and be loved unconditionally.

*pssht-pssht*.

Ooooh. Intuition.

This is a fun spray.

Like the soak, this is also made with Lavender & Jasmine essential oils and little amethyst crystals.

I often find myself needing to make difficult decisions, in parenting, in business and in relationships. It is easy to forget that we all possess this unlimited resource within us: intuition.

A little spritz, a deep inhale and a conscious effort to move my thinking from my head and down, to instead, feel from my gut. This is how I get through some of the more challenging choices in life.

Plus this one is my favorite smell. yum.

I was really feeling the farm animal model vibe today.

Last up: Vibe Detox! Which is a totally new blend (but maybe we should make it into a bath soak someday??).

Vibe Detox is made with White Sage, Vanilla and Quartz crystals and this is the bad boy I squirt (I mean gently mist) at my kids in the car.

This one is for 86-ing the bad juju.

Had an argument? *pssht-pssht*

Stubbed your toe? *pssht-pssht*

Bad day at work? *pssht-pssht*

You get the idea.

Banish that bad energy like its a cat on the kitchen counter!

PSSHT!
