If you are still shaking your salt from a shaker, then it is possible that you haven't really ever reached your full, delicious food tasting potential. Quality culinary salt should be raw and chunky and most importantly, unrefined.

Did you know? Salt cellars have been used for thousands of years, though usage began to decline when bleached, anti-caking-agent-filled "free-flowing" salt (eww) was introduced in 1911. #SaveTheSaltCellar

Any proper chef will tell you that 'good' salt, like any other quality ingredient, is a must and should always be pinched and sprinkled over food, to taste.

This salt vessel was created specifically for use on your kitchen counter while cooking, but is also pretty enough to put on the dining table for finishing salt. We consider these cellars functional pieces of culinary art.

This cellar is approximately 3 1/2'' wide and 2'' tall. Glaze is a matte black inside and out.

Our ceramic pieces are handmade [exclusively for Alaska Salt Co.] by Liana of Glazed and Confused Pottery. Each unique piece is hand crafted by Liana in her home studio in Kenai, Alaska. There are no two pieces exactly the same, so the ceramic item that you order will vary slightly from what you see in these online photos. If you're feeling particularly particular about the piece that you want, please feel free to email us with questions and we can send you photos of the piece for your approval before shipment.

But believe us when we say they are even more beautiful in person!
