As a Cancer sign, my love for the sea comes naturally. My curiosity was nurtured through weekend tide-pooling trips when we lived in California. Add that my biological father was a Naval deep sea diver, and I had a recipe for wanting to become a marine biologist when I grew up.

Moving to the literal center of the largest state, however, I was no longer near the ocean. I found myself seeking the salty solace through my art.

Over time, the rough beauty of Alaska seeped into my work and I have embraced this on my own terms – painting and drawing bones instead of birch trees, and creating weirdness out of the wilderness. I'm still inspired by all things oceanic, and embrace the moments I get to rejuvenate my artistic soul and get my toes in the water.

My curiosity about the natural world keeps me open to exploring themes of nature, where one idea often sparks the next. I try to lean into that momentum—finding patterns, making connections, and following the thread through the creative whirlwind. Always, I strive to intentionally find the unexpected in the familiar, or uncover beauty in places where others might not see it.

My art connects me to my obsessive need for details and profound need for visual order. The details are then an outlet for these compulsive energies, allowing me to connect uniquely with each work of art.

My paintings are applied to a wood surface or panel, with hand drawn details in inks, markers, or color pencils. The mixed media approach further complements the combination of ideas and captures more details and intricacies of the character or object, while also satisfying my compulsive energy.
