Eriophorum, cotton grass, grows in the tundra and boggy lake edges all over Alaska. The fluffy seed heads resemble cotton and can even be mistaken for white fur.
The white tusk-like structures are dentalium shells from scaphopods, a hollow-shelled mollusk.
